Learn To Skate

The CanSkate and Preschool Learn to Skate programs teach skating fundamentals for use by recreational, hockey, ringette or figure skaters. Only skaters and coaches are allowed on the ice. All skaters must wear a CSA approved hockey/skating helmet and gloves.

Two sessions are offered:

  1. Fall: week of September 12 – week of December 19, 2011
  2. Winter: week of January 9 – week of March 28, 2012

Preschool

The Learn to Skate Preschool program is intended for skaters aged 3 to 5 years old with limited or no previous skating experience. The 30-minute group lesson with a Professional Coach is designed to focus on balance, introduction of basic skills, and making skating fun through the use of games, toys, activities and music.

Canskate

CanSkate is Skate Canada's flagship learn-to-skate program, designed for skaters 5 years or older who have not completed Canskate Stage 4. Lessons are given in a group format led by certified professional Coaches and assisted by trained Program Assistants. The program features a 10-minute warm-up, followed by two 15-minute Coached sessions. The session ends with a 10-minute free skate designed for skating fun.
