Star Skate

STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. Unique in Canada, this program teaches figure skating skills in a group and/or private lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner and includes specifically designed awards and incentives. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Tests through a nationally standardized testing system. Each session includes group instruction with a professional coach plus free time for practice. Private lessons may be arranged with individual coaches. Prices vary from coach to coach. Junior and Intermediate sessions include a 30 minute Skills session which is a group on-ice session with a professional coach specifically focused on skills and edges. Skaters must wear helmets until they have completed CanSkate 5. Star Skate runs from the week of September 12, 2011 until the week of March 28, 2012, excluding Christmas break (Dec 23-Jan 6) and March Break (week of March 12)

Synchronized Skating

Synchronized skating is a specialized discipline of skating involving groups of twelve or more skaters performing various group formations and maneuvers. The objective is for the team to perform as one unit executing circles, blocks, lines, wheels and intersections in unison to the music, while demonstrating quality edges, power and flow. The Port Perry Skating Club hosts two teams of Port Perry Snow Angels. Skaters are selected to the teams based on tryout sessions held in the Spring. Skaters must be registered in another program with PPSC or must submit a letter of confirmation from their home club.
